So here we go – the list of things I want to do.
The reason the list started is because after I was admitted to ITU in March, over the period of a week where I was on life support, my friends and family were dealt an extremely difficult hand and told to be prepared that I may not wake up. When I eventually did wake up, I decided not to let anything, including this illness and all it’s complications, hold me back.
Things like seeing my best friend that I hadn’t seen for a couple of years were the things that I wanted to achieve. They’re not huge life changing experiences, but they’re the things that we all say we want to do but never make time for. Things that I could do in hospital, and it grew from there. I wrote and read on video poetry.
My life has been changed and been turned upside down. It’s not directly life threatening but it’s effect and complications have been and will be, and it can change with the flip of a coin. So I’m not going to hold back, I’m not going to delay things, I’m going to live every day to the full and achieve everything I have on the list.
It’s an ongoing list and I add to it most days. I want the list to be completed, even if the worst happened and I couldn’t be there for all of it. It’s not a list of things to do before I die, it’s a list of things to do to live life to the full.
